2023-24 Standing Rules & Bylaws
The following proposed Standing Rules and Bylaws revision for the 2023-24 school year will be voted on at the July 12th General Meeting. All PTA members in good standing are welcome to this meeting. If approved, these adopted changes will be submitted to Texas PTA for approval.
Notice of Approval of Sugar Mill Elementary PTA Bylaws and Standing Rules
The PTA membership formally approved the proposed Bylaws revisions and new Standing Rules during the PTA general meeting on December 13th, 2016. Texas PTA approved the revised Sugar Mill Elementary PTA Bylaws and Standing Rules on February 17, 2017 . The Sugar Mill Elementary PTA Bylaws were last revised and approved in August 2013. This past summer, the Texas PTA approved a new position called the “President-Elect”. The purpose of this new position is to develop leaders and transition officers by establishing a “president-in-training.” The individual who is elected to this new position will shadow the current president for one year before assuming the president role herself/himself. The Sugar Mill Elementary PTA Executive Board approved proposed revisions to the Bylaws to incorporate the “President-Elect”, as well as establish two additional Vice President positions to assist in successfully performing the activities of the Sugar Mill PTA. Additional minor edits to the Bylaws were approved to correct the stated local portion of dues and to remove old language that was not properly deleted in a previous revision. As a companion to the revised Bylaws, the Executive Board also approved proposed Standing Rules that contain details about the day-to-day operations of the PTA.
